Pictures of Margaret's Gravestone

Margaret Pitkin (died 1899)
This granite gravestone, on the eastern edge of Montpelier's (VT) Green Mount Cemetery, is the subject of "Song for Margaret" on the Banjo Dan and the Mid-nite Plowboys album I'll Take the Hills. There are several other museum-quality sculptures in this cemetery near the Barre granite quarries, but none so memorable. Green Mount Cemetery is the one you can see from the Interstate on the west side of the town.
